Kristein Goes To Germany
Cheap airline tickets in February!
This all came about because Darwin and I were in the early stages of planning a trip to Europe later in the spring, and I noticed with a sick feeling how drastically cheaper airline tickets and hotels are in February. I was complaining about this over dinner with Kristen when one of us - I can’t remember who - suggested we should take advantage of those cheap prices and go on an off-season “mini-break” to some as-yet-undetermined city in Europe.

Traveling Cheap In Europe
Tips about getting free tickets from a blogger who knows how to travel on a shoestring.
After my entries about getting a free ticket, booking cheap accommodations and finding cheap places to eat or drink during the worldcup 2006, I have been getting more and more requests for more tips which are city (or World Cup venue) specific.

Getting An Upgrade
Click through for hints on some ways to score a first class ticket.
Well, if you cannot justify first or business class tickets at work and you have been spoiled by the pampering you have previously received then, this is the perfect time to put your Frequent Flyer Membership Status to use WITHOUT having to use your miles (because we all know that mileage is used for personal travel ;-)

FareChaser Beta
Might want to check out the new FareChase service a Yahoo:
Other than Messenger, I recommend playing with FareChase beta — I’ve used it to buy airline tickets for a couple trips and it has some unique features for a travel application.

Home From St. Louis
Looks like cheaptickets.com delivered, even on short notice.
As for recommendations, the Residence Inn St. Louis Chesterfield was spacious and reasonably priced. Cheaptickets.com got us a good deal on the rooms and tickets (American Airlines) even with the incredibly short notice. The only hitch was dealing with Enterprise for our rental car -- they were pretty awful. Getting the car was the easy part, but returning it was a nightmare. They don't have a 24-hour phone information number, and since our flight left at 7am on Sunday morning it was impossible to reach anyone. We needed to drop the car off...

Mini Travel Aggregators
Maybe this is the future of cheap airline tickets?
Been in Hawaii (Diamond Head on Oahu) since Sunday (therefor the low post rates). Doing alot of surfing and not much else. But while reading the local tourist rags, something interesting struck me. There are a bunch of local micro travel aggregators that specialize right here in Waikiki. Like: go Waikiki.com. When planning my trip I went to all the big aggregators (Expedia, Tavelocity, NorthWest Airlines, Hotels.com, Priceline, etc.) and was a bit depressed at how uniform the rates...

Careful Where You Buy Cheap Airline Tickets
That cheap airline ticket site might just be looking for your credit card number. Nothing more. Make sure you trust the web site you're using to buy travel.
While the sites attempting to sell cheap airline tickets to unsuspecting victims have been shut down (as noted in Phishing Scam Twist: Bogus Sites Built To Snatch Credit Cards from InternetWeek), it raises a bigger question. How do you really know where you are going when you click on a search-based ad?

Cheaper One Way Flights
Sometimes you can get cheaper airline tickets booking one-way flights.
Who knew...Have you ever tried to get a one way flight and noticed that they seldom seem to be any cheaper than return flights ? Searching Expedia this afternoon for an Orlando to London, UK one way for this coming Tuesday gave me the option of a Delta ticket (via Atlanta for $789.60), a US Airways (via Charlotte, North Carolina for $800.10) or an American Airlines flight (via Boston) for the same price, $800.10. That was at the lowest end of the price scale.
