Surprise Or Fraud
Was this recent airline ticket purchase a surprise ... or a fraud!
Well, actually, he wanted to know if I was planning a trip on British Airways. Apparently, someone attempted to charge over $5,000 on airline tickets. I know it was more than $5,000, but after Greg said, “five-thousand,” the sound of my heart beating in my ear drowned out the last three numbers. I think it’s sufficient to say “a lot.”

Armor
Linguistics lessons for Russian travellers.
I also learned that the Russian word for “making a reservation” is the same as the word for “adding armor to”—бронирование [bronirovaniye]. I guess it means you’re protecting your room from anyone else using it. It sure looks odd, though. You can do the same with airline tickets.

Have To Get Away
Even with high gas prices, a road trip may be a cheaper than buying airline tickets.
- Road trips are not out, because the price of gas is still cheaper than the price of 3 airline tickets to most destinations.

Expensive Airline Tickets
The longer you wait, the more expensive the airline tickets get.
Another entry about how I finally managed to convince the diploma coordinator with the pretentious name that I paid by check (OMG WHO USES CHECKS ANYMORE OMGWTF THEY ARE MADE OF PAPER!!!11one), can provide a copy if necessary, and that really, I’d just like to know if I can graduate or not. That having to wait another couple days/weeks/months (!) to find out if I should really bother having my family and whoever else wants to come out for a graduation ceremony that I may or may not be attending. Airline tickets are expensive; I’m guessing that all my college really wants is to waste everyone’s time and money.

A Culinary Trip To Sardinia
Click through for the scariest cheese you've ever smelled.
A trip to Sardinia in Italy, however, would expose you to a different food culture. So different that some of you may even swear never to eat Italian food ever again.

Baby Luggage
Dept. of Strange Security Procedures.
A woman has 14-month-old twin boys. They had a flight recently (I believe out of Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Hair Care Salon, and Quick Lube Station). The boys — remember, 14 months old — were each classified by security as “single male, no baggage” and treated accordingly — i.e. they were searched and “wanded”.

Airfare For The Wayfarer
In case you were confused about airline ticket pricing:
If you posted something about air fares on your blog, submit it to Blog Carnival! As a seasoned traveler, I can promise you that even with this highly educational course, you won’t be any clearer about what you need, when you need it, as you purchase your next airfare. You will never be able to pin the airlines down as to their exact formula for pricing options, mostly because they don’t have one. The last lesson in Airfare 101: As you prepare to purchase your next airline tickets, you can throw out all the rules and formulas, close your eyes, and just pick one!

Delta's Credit Card Problems
Cash or charge. On second thought, cash.
The high cost of fuel has made a bad situation even worse, and Delta finds itself in a disturbing position in not having enough upfront cash to cover all those customers who have already bought their airline tickets for future vacations. Credit card processing companies demand enough up front cash reserves to cover credit card processing, and Delta does not have the cash reserves.

Humana & Virgin Group Develop Innovative Loyalty Program
Very interesting marketing idea:
Rewards programs, sometimes called loyalty programs, are old hat to marketers. However, here's a new twist to that game...a program for staying healthy that gives you lower health insurance premiums and airline tickets as incentives. Divas this gives exercise a whole new meaning and as a small biz owner, whose health insurance takes a huge bite from the ole budget, I could get into this one!

How Hard Could It Be To Make An Airline Reservation
The only thing that would make this better is if it stopped raining here:
Every day, millions of travelers research fares and hundreds of thousands buy airline tickets over the Internet, sometimes with just a few clicks of the mouse. They could be forgiven for not knowing that air-fare searching is an astonishingly complex computer task ÷ or that it took a small software company, founded a few years ago by a procrastinating graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to help simplify the process.

We're So Thrilled.....
What a great travel story:
Jason’s grandfather was in Germany during the War and well…he had a daughter. I do not know the details of the relationship he had with this woman but he never saw his child. Grandpa’s old love has passed away and finally the daughter was told of her real father. Her name is Aujetta and she phoned Grandpa last night and it sounds like things went very well. Aujetta is only 3hrs away from where we’re living so I cannot wait to meet her. She doesn’t have much family left so when she learned about everyone in the states she broke into tears of joy and speaking on behalf of this clan…We all can’t wait to get a hold of this gal and just squeeze her to death. Aujetta was extremely thrilled to learn her nephew Jason & family were living in Germany…..I’m just sitting on pins and needles I tell ya….Grandpa is already checking on airline tickets and I hope these two people come together very soon…I’m so glad I’ll be able to witness it….

Higher Prices For Airline Tickets
No surprise that airline tickets are called out in this inflation report. Fuel prices are up and air travel as surpassed pre-9/11 levels.
The new report showed that even outside of food and energy, there were significant price pressures last month. The so-called core rate of inflation rose by a worrisome 0.4 percent in March, the largest jump in 2 1/2 years and double what economists had expected. It reflected higher prices for clothing, hotel rooms, airline tickets and medical care.

Biography of the Band
Good story, but might want to consider a better word at the end of this paragraph:
Benji and Joel graduated high school in June 1997, and for a graduation present the twins’ mother presented them with a pair of open airline tickets to California. "Some of our favorite bands like Green Day had started out at this East Bay club called 924 Gilman Street. So when we graduated, that summer we made a pilgrimage to visit the club. We'd never even been on a plane before, but we have an aunt in Berkeley who let us crash with her."

Blogging on Amenities
Okay, this is a good point I hadn't considered.
Hence, the real question is whether the prices (and taxes) paid for airline tickets and goods in the airport somehow account, in real terms, for the nicer amenities at airports.

More Than Just your Airline Magazine
I thought this was pretty funny. It never actually occurred to me that those airline miles would ever get me anything other than an occasional upgrade...
I don’t travel 250,000,000,000 miles per year, so I don’t get free airline tickets or first class upgrades, but every once in a while I do get free stuff like some decent magazines. Yes, now these evil corporations have my address, but I’m sure they already have that and much, much more.
