No More Free Luggage?

travel luggage passenger Are the days of free luggage really over? A report on how airlines are charging.

Delta Air Lines says no. United Airlines is seriously studying it (is there an exam coming up?). Other airlines are staying quiet after American Airlines’ controversial announcement that it will start charging $15 for the first checked bag.

well when it costs more fuel the heavier the plane is and with the current focus on air travel affecting the climate it's probable they would want to deter people from bringing as much luggage on a flight. I'm sure it's got nothing to do with the price of fuel!!

Thank you for posting this!
I do agree that maybe some companys will charge money for extra luggage due to the financial crisis.

It's a difficult task to get consumers to swallow paying for something that's been free for so long. Airlines that never charged will be seen in a more positive light when the economy rebounds and all is good again, unless this charge is a permanent business model change.
