Paging Angola
Tough to track downThis is getting rediculous. I’ve spoken with El Al and American Airlines. They seem powerless to do anything. There is one employee at El Al that’s making efforts to try, but the rest simply don’t do much. The standard procedure is to send off a telex and hope for the best. They don’t make phone calls or try to be creative in any way.

Appelle Moi Mariangela
An Air France adventure at de Gaulle airportEro, durante una mia trasferta europea, a Charles de Gaulle.

Like A High School Reunion
I won’t be driving, instead I am planning to take a bus and then a train from the East Lansing Amtrak station with none other than Joy. I’m hoping the train has cocktails so we can arrive in Chicago properly prepared for the festivities.

Airbus A380
A peakYesterday, I landed back at LAX after a day trip to Seattle and the United Airlines pilot politely pointed out the Airbus A380 parked across the runway. United has not yet ordered any A380's and as a United frequent flyer I'm not too upset. I really don't want to be one of the 555 passengers waiting in line to use one of the 18 restrooms planned for a typical configuration. But one can see why the plane has its appeal, as we also taxied past 5 Quantas 747's, no doubt more than one of them leaving within several hours of another for Sydney.

Chief Apology Officer
Southwest Airlines is finding waysThis article profiles Southwest Airlines executive Fred Taylor, Jr. Although his official title is Senior Manager of Proactive Customer Communications, as the Times article suggests, this is a euphemism for "Chief Apology Officer." In this role, Taylor spends long hours researching customer service failures at the airline, then sending personal letters of apology (usually including his direct phone number and often enclosing free travel vouchers) to Southwest Airlines customers who suffered the poor experience.

Southwest Customer Service
If you want to find out about customer serviceThen tonight we kick things off with a keynote from Davis Ridley. Davis ran customer service for Southwest airlines. In ecommerce, customer service is one of the best ways to distinguish yourself from competitors. In the airline industry, SouthWest consistently beats every other airline in all aspects of customer service so we thought someone that could achieve what Davis has in one of THE toughest customer service industries would be a great way to start the conference.

Full-blown Adultitis
Dealing withLast week we were flying to Denver. We ended up missing our connecting flight in Chicago because our first flight of the day in Madison was delayed. We literally sprinted through O’Hare Airport to get to our gate (which was super far away) only to find the doors to the jet bridge being closed right before our eyes. One of the American Airlines workers saw us run up, huffing and puffing, and after finding out our names began typing in the computer. She didn’t say a word.

Propeller Forces
If you travel by prop plane, find outWhen the airplane is flying, there are several forces created by the propeller that affect the way the airplane flies. As the propeller rotates, the air flowing through it is twisted, creating a spiraling slipstream. The spiraling slipstream as it works its way out of the plane exerts a sideways force on the fuselage of the airplane and also upon the vertical tail surface.

My Reltionship With Rick
If you're in Negril, Jamaica, you might want toMost people who frequent Negril tend to shun so-called tourist traps like Rick’s Caf. Thought of as a haven for All-Inclusive types (people not in-the-know), Rick’s Caf is an island of crass commercialism in what we consider our little bay of authentic Jamaican culture.

Travel Blogging
Good tipsIf you’re part of a travel blogs community, you’re generally guaranteed a bit of traffic from other members surfing the latest updates. If you’re travel blogging on your own platform, perhaps you’re getting the visitors, but they never stick around long enough to read more than a single post.
