Comparing Airlines
An accounting student compares American Airlines to its bankrupt competitors.
My Financial Data and Statement Analysis class is going fairly well. My final project for that course will be comparing three major airline corporations and its subsidiary companies: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines although Delta and United Airlines are bankrupted, American Airlines will be the likely corporation to invest in if only those three were an option to invest money on, but I would look to other airlines for better investing opportunities. This class is most enjoyable. This course is actually something I can use and apply when I want to invest some day.

I've done a lot of flying in my life and have dealt with many airlines both U.S. and abroad. None has even come close to the rude, dishonest, unethical and downright meanspiritedness of American Airlines. From being actually hunted down after seated on a plane by one of their security people because a new ticket check-in employee messed up and took the wrong part of my ticket (and surprise, surprise, they refused to believe me), to spending hours on the phone getting inconsistent and intentionally incorrect information depending on with whom I spoke and which direction the $ flowed, to jumping through all the hoops to get Advantage miles I could never actually use due to one mishap or another, to surly and rude flight attendants, and the list goes on and on. I just finally broke even on a $100 reinstatement fee that I would not have gone for had they accurately explained it. All for the "privilege" of 3 years later still not being able to actually use those miles until I finally gifted them to a friend who is still struggling to get the actual flight. I will never, never, never ever (did I say "never" enough times?) fly this airline unless they're the last remaining in the universe. And even then I'd have to think twice about it.

Tired with all the too uptight regulations and treatment on the airlines (see women's breast feeding, couple kissing, praying etc) take the train....They have more room, you can move about at will and it's scenic as well as environmentally conscious. Amtrak is expanding it's routes and ridership is up thus making it necessary to add more trains to accommodate increasing ridership.
