Music In Austin
Most people know about the legendary music festivals in Austin: the Austin City Limits Music Festival this coming weekend and of course, South by Southwest (SXSW) in March. Many don’t know that SXSW is a music and film and interactive (Internet/blogger/digital world) event; there’s so much going on you could stay up for days, although that may not be terribly family-friendly.Musical travel in Austin.

Guess Where I Am Now?
The Amtrak train up the Pacific coast is spectacular.
The trip from here from San Francisco via train was pretty cool. Amtrak do a pretty nice job of making you comfortable and the journey, scenically, is just beautiful. The green of the forests runs majestically with the blue of the creeks, rivers and lakes, like a natural marble.

Airport Rant
Are we more secure?
Then before you get on the plane, there’s another security check. I’m not kidding, and what’s scary about this check is that they don’t even check everybody that gets on the plane. They pull random people out of line and check not just their luggage, but also everything on them including their clothes, their pockets and even their shoes. Of course, I know why, ever since Richard Reed hid a bomb in his shoe aboard a Delta airlines flight and everyone is paranoid that some Richard Reed fan club president might try to cop his idea, and they should be.

President's Club At Newark
What you'll find at Continental Airline's President Club if you're traveling through Newark.
Ever wondered what goes on beyond the gilded doors of Continental Airline's President's Club at Newark Airport? Sure, we all do. Thanks to my Continental Airlines Mastercard and it's 2 free passes per year, I was able to find out last week. The entrance is almost unobtrusively hidden down a long hallway and is guarded by two workers at a counter. You present your qualifications and are allowed to enter.

What's Your Vector, Victor?
The woes of airline travel.
United Airlines was fabulous. They helped us with all our luggage and took very good care of our dog. We boarded our plane, but at 8:00, they announced that they weren’t sure when we would be leaving as one of the flight crew had not shown up for work quite yet. Hahaha we laughed. Isn’t that funny? We are going to be a little late because someone didn’t come to work. Hahaha. But then they announced that everyone had to leave the plane because it would be several hours until they could solve the problem. We weren’t laughing anymore. If we were 2 hours late, then we would miss our next flight.
