Useful comparison here between Travelocity and Orbitz.
Read the entire article.I saw one of Travelocity’s commercials this morning, and thought of writing about my experiences with them. I using Travelocity relatively early in their existence, and used them for several years after that.

I have used Orbitz, hotwire, Expedia and Travelocity, all have their pro's and con's.
I spotted a site called Anyfares.com, found air tickets so cheap that my savings were about 35% cheaper than Orbitz, hotwire, Expedia and Travelocity. Flights internationally such as Europe in particular that are great and South American, China and middle East countries, they have excellent rates. Domestic though there are some what competitive where I used either Hotwire or the airlines direct from their web sites.
What I really like about Anyfares.com is they sell tickets on US dollars in foreign countries and all their tickets are e-tickets so if you are in France and need a fight to St.Petersburg Russia or London or Frankfurt, they sell everything in US dollars and you have your tickets emailed in 10 minutes so you can just travel just like that. Orbitz, Expedia and Travelocity, they sell their tickets if you are out of the US, they will charged you the currency in that country if you want to fly from there to somewhere else. So if I was in France for example and I want to fly to London, Frankfurt or anywhere, they will charge me in Euros or Pound Notes (it is like charging you double when the US dollar is so weak) when if you are an American and want to save, you can't save because Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity will charged the currency if you are outside the United States but with Anyfares.com, they don't. Euros, Swiss Marks, British Pounds, Russian Rubles and etc, they currencies are high to the US dollar and if you are an American, you are stuck if you have to meet those currencies if you have only US dollars.
So consider if you have a money budget and you can't afford the high currencies, try http://www.anyfares.com

Travelocity versus Orbitz. This is no contest, and here's why.
For all of us in these UNITED STATES, especially after the 911 terrorist attack in New York, and the countless natural disasters that have devastated this country, who are making a heart felt attempt to bring this country together (morally, financially, ethically, and racially) - ORBITZ and companies like it offers a "Slap in the Face" to all of us. Recently a young man told me of an unthinkable interview he had had at ORBITZ.COM in Chicago. He said that prior to the interview he had several "phone" conversations with representatives for the hiring manager - who had no idea of his race nor nationality. He was even told by one representative that based on his resume he was the strongest candidate for the position. BUT, these representatives for ORBITZ.COM had no idea that this young man was African American (I do mean AMERICAN, born and raised; prior service in the UNITED STATES MARINE CORP.), so the interview was scheduled. Upon arriving at ORBITZ.COM's Chicago Headquarters, the young man proceeded to the receiption area designated in a prior email. Once in the receiption area, he said he was approached by a caucasian woman who appeared momentarily startled at his presence. he said that didn't bother him, as he has learned to adapt to such behavior. He was escorted to another floor where the interviews were to take place. After being shown the interview room, he awaited the first of four interviewers. The first interviewer entered the room and greeted the young man, and the youn man returned civil greetings. The first interviewr was a large caucasian man, casually dressed and was said to have spoken with an Eastcoast accent. He told the young man to sit down, and to give some "background" on himself. After speaking to the interviewer the young man was asked the following "Inerview Question", "If you were the only person on a desert island, and the UNITED STATES existed as it does today - CALCULATE HOW MANY BARBERS THER ARE IN THE UNITED STATES." The young man said that he looked at the interviewer as if the interviewer has LOST his @#*%$( mind. This is sad, because the remaining interviews were no better. OF COURSE THE YOUNG MAN WAS NOT OFFERED THE POSITION, THEY FELT THAT HE WAS TOO "HIGH LEVEL" - WHAT A JOKE! This reminded me of tmes "NO SO LONG AGO", when Black People [African Americans] were REQUIRED to CALCULATE HOW MANY JELLY BEANS THERE WERE IN A JAR - as a prerequisite for voting. THAT WAS AN UNFAIR PRACTICE, AND HIRING PRACTICE BY MOST CORPORATIONS IN TODAY'S WORLD ARE NOT TO FAR REMOVE FROM SUCH METHODS. WILL YOU SUPPORT ORBITZ.COM; NOT ME AND ME FAMILY WE WON'T SUPPORT SUCH BEHAVIOR AND CORPORATE PRACTICES.
THIS IS NOT A HOAX, THE YOUNG MAN WHO WAS INJUSTLY DENIED A POSITION AT ORBITZ WAS VERY QAUIFIED. LOOK AT THE DIVERSITY OF THE COMPANIES THAT YOU OR YOU FAMILY MEMBERS WORK FOR, JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES; AND IF YOU ARE IN A POSITION TO MAKE A CHANGE THEN DO SO.
