Amtrak Ticket Prices Up
Is this the impact of the Bush Administration's Amtrak cuts?
I took the train out of Washington today to visit family in New Jersey. Amtrak ran on time, which was a blessing. At times in the past the Northeast Corridor has been rife with delays; in recent years this improved a lot. But the Amtrak management gave its customers a holiday present: price-gouging. A one-way ticket on the route I travel usually costs $76; this morning it cost $101. That's one-way, folks. And that is not the worst of it. An afternoon ticket cost $120.
