Delta's Credit Card Problems
Cash or charge. On second thought, cash.
The high cost of fuel has made a bad situation even worse, and Delta finds itself in a disturbing position in not having enough upfront cash to cover all those customers who have already bought their airline tickets for future vacations. Credit card processing companies demand enough up front cash reserves to cover credit card processing, and Delta does not have the cash reserves.

Can I tell you hwat DELTA did with my luggage this week? On a one week ski trip Burbank to SLC, they lost 3 of my bags. The 3rd one didn't get delivered until 2days before we returned - and that was after 4 phone calls totaling 4 1/2 HOURS on the phone total , calling every day. Finally a supervisor had mercy on me , and my son, who had no clothes except what he was wearing, and tracked it down.
Today, we arrived 3 hours early for our 1 1/2 hour return flight. They OFF_LOADED my bag because the flight was too heavy. Twelve hours later, it remains in SLC. The other flights have also been too heavy. They assure me they'll send it here when the holiday travel lightens up! (!)

DELTA AIRLINES SCREWS MUSICIANS.
I've been flying with my guitar for well over 10 years, and have never been forced to check it. Checking an old archtop would surely destroy it.
Checking in at La Guardia on my way to a show in Atlanta, I was forced to buy a seat for my irreplaceable 50 year old guitar at the last minute. First offer: Only $1020.00. The hostile, rude counter jockey in the faux military uniform finally got me a seat for well over $650.00.
He had no last name on his name tag, and refused to allow me to speak with his superior.
He claimed it was a security issue, but security just x-rayed the case. Never even asked me to open it. Every security person I spoke to (and I spoke with plenty) were shocked, and said they had absolutely no problem with guitars. As a matter of fact, over the past 10+ years, no security personnel have had any problem with my guitar, here or in Europe.
Delta is pretending it's a security issue, but it's clearly not.
Delta is using the human misery of 9/11 as an excuse to bully and steal from musicians.

Most of the Caribbean nationals save their money, and pay for their tickets at the airport in cash, but let's face it, we Americans are cash poor. Credit rules the day!
It will be interesting to see how, or if Delta resolves this.
Nice blog!
