United Airlines Asks Illinois To Cap Fuel Tax
$8 million here, $9 million there. Pretty soon you're talking about some big savings:
Bankrupt United Airlines has asked its home state of Illinois to cap the tax it pays on fuel at 2004 levels — a move that could save United $8 million. Other airlines that refuel in Illinois would also benefit. Experts disagree over whether the cap — if approved — should be a short-term or long-term measure. Read more.
